Learning a new language is hard. Having a laugh with it, intentional or not, makes it fun.
Like other Grade 4 public school students, T started French class this year.
It’s a good thing the hubby is fluent, so he can help T with the work, as needed.
His CYW shared photos of T’s presentation from French class this week.
He had to present a few slides sharing interesting tidbits about himself.
As you can see from the photo at the top, he wanted to share that his family goes camping at Killbear Provincial Park in the summer and goes to Mexico for March Break.
I was so proud of T that I quickly shared the photos with the hubby.
He promptly texted back that “it literally says his family goes to kill bears for camping.” 😂

Ha!! Maybe that’s why I’ve never seen a bear at Killbear Provincial Park! It’s wonderful to hear how much T enjoys travelling and that it was one of the interesting tidbits he wanted to share about himself.

Thankfully we’ve only ever spotted one bear in all our years camping – and no, we didn’t kill it! 🙃 I’m glad to hear he enjoys our adventures too. 💕
Enjoy the rest of your trip and safe travels back home!

Maybe she or he just quietly chuckled in the back of the room. 🙂

Perhaps SOMEone needs to thin out the bear population up there! 😉

I like how you describe a blended experience — a proud moment, then a good chuckle afterward. Learning a new language is tricky! It helps to have humor along the way 🙂

Blended experience is a great way to describe our life with T, Dave! 😊😆 I wish I had the brain to absorb and learn a new language right now too. Such a great way to experience the world.

Haha! That’s funny. Maybe he should’ve added that no actual bears were harmed during the trip. 😆 Speaking of French in Canada, the other day I watched the first few minutes of the televised French debate among the four contenders for the upcoming election. I knew French is also Canada’s official language, but I didn’t know that political leaders do speak it to some extent, and that’s really cool.

I don’t think realized the translation he made. 😆 It’s nice that you’re tuning into our elections. It’s nice that our federal leaders are required to be bilingual. We’re all waiting with bated breath for the results tomorrow. I sure hope it swings towards a progressive rather than a conservative agenda! 🙏

I surely hope so, Ab. All the best for today’s elections!

This is where we need a laugh reaction 😂 or do we? Don’t let the Great Galaxy Bear
(aka the maiden) know though 🐻

Thanks Yvonne! 🥰 And yes, I’ll be sure not let the maiden know! 😆

Hmm, bear killers. I’m envisioning the opening scene of the Brad Pitt movie “Legend of the Fall” where he uses a knife to stab a bear and cuts off a claw. C’mon on Ab, where’s your bear claw? Ha, ha. And yes I’m so envious. T learning French in Grade 4. Wow. I love it.

I’ll get back to you on the bear claw later this summer! 😂

I love this so very much! it is really funny and you have to love him for being proud of his family, for enjoying your trips this much, and for trying out his French in front of his class. so much braver than I am!
my oldest daughter once told her 1/2 day pre-k class, when asked what her parents did during the day, (keep in mind, I had 3 young daughters under the age of 5, I was taking a night class, and we were redoing our old rundown house) that her dad ‘went to work’ and her mom, ‘just painted some stuff, ate something, and laid down again.’

These are the moments that we remember and cherish as parents! His pride and love for his family does come through in his calmest moments. 🥰
And I love your story. The things our kids share about us to their peers! 😂

What! You had no idea that your family are bear killers? T has designed a side hustle for you it seems- maybe to increase the funds for more Mexico vacations? 🙂 I had to take a language for at least 1 semester when I was finishing my degree. Learning a new language as an adult is horrendous IMO. My daughter was studying French at the same time so that’s the language I picked so she could coach me through 🙂

I could see a crossover series between the Bear and the HOA! 😂 Life is just so ridiculous sometimes we have to chuckle.
You’ll have to practice French with T one day and see what other animals he ends up killing. 😆

What was the actual animal he meant?

The name of the campsite is Killbear. But the French translation app translates it to kill bears. 😂
